Teaching Approach
From Technical Skill to Independent Thinking
Classically trained in drawing and painting, Sean strengthens core skills where needed, while guiding students beyond technique into confident decision-making and conceptual clarity.
Structured Clarity, Personal Direction
Sean begins by clarifying a student’s goals and working backwards from assessment or admissions criteria. He helps students “join the dots” across their practice so portfolios feel coherent, intentional and genuinely their own.
Cross-Disciplinary Perspective
With experience across fine art, fashion, illustration, design and visual communication, Sean supports students in navigating multiple creative fields and positioning their practice clearly within competitive art school contexts.
Admissions Panel Insight
Having contributed to university portfolio reviews and admissions discussions, Sean understands how work is evaluated. He helps students edit strategically and present work with precision and confidence.

“After working together, my students gain clarity – about their direction, their strengths and how to structure a body of work that makes sense as a whole. I’m most proud when they stop asking ‘is this good enough?’ and start understanding why their work works.”
